Hard Drive Imaging
This is useful if you wish to take a 'photo' of your hard drive to restore in case of a system crash. The same methods can also be used in a business environment with the purchase of 1 or more of the same PC's, you can install all required company software onto 1 single machine, then simply copy it to all the others.

Partitioning
This is a good solution for keep in track of all your data by storing it on a different section of your hard disk. Storing your data on a separate partition almost quadruples the chance that your data will be kept intact in the case of a system failure.
